At a GGI business planning meeting held in Melbourne last week, GGI's senior management discussed GGI's business and project strategy for the next 5 years.
The focus was India, which has set an ambitious goal of obtaining 227 gigawatts of energy produced by renewables by 2022. Currenlty, India has added a little more than 70 gigawatts of that goal.
R.K. Singh, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy recently stated at a press conference that the Government is very serious about reaching its 2022 targets and given that the finance costs for renewable energy projects in India has decreased, and demand for clean energy is increasing, India has become a more favoured destination for renewable energy investment.
Allan Clarke, Chairman of GGI said "Investments in clean energy in India rose 22% in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year and he expects India to become the largest growth market by the late 2020's."
GGI has submitted project proposals for tender in 2 States in India which are being currently being reviewed and assessed and if successful, will allow GGI to expand its renewable energy footprint in India.
