Oscar has over twenty seven (27) years of professional experience in the electrical power industry, with a strong background in the development of power solutions for the mining and utility industries. Oscar has extensive experience in mining installations in WA, SA and QLD, where he has carried out the full range of engineering activities on a wide range of projects during my career, including prefeasibility studies, feasibility reports, detailed design & design supervision, documentation, procurement, construction supervision, commissioning, and handover to the client.
He has practical experience in design, modification and upgrade of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, and how they interface to process control, and qualitative & quantitative instrumentation equipment.
During the mid to late 1990’s, Oscar worked in the building services consulting area, where he undertook detailed design & documentation of electrical services, communications and data, fire detection and control systems, for a large number of private 7 government owned infrastructure projects across north Queensland and the pacific, including PNG and the Solomon Islands. These projects included the Cairns Airport development, Cairns Base Hospital, Cairns Central shopping centre, local sugar mills, and large apartment complexes in Cairns, Townsville and Port Douglas.
Oscar’s consultancy career led him to Adelaide in the early 2000’s, where he undertook a wide range of electrical engineering roles with private consulting firms, servicing government & private clients on project such as Yatala prison development, water treatment plants, schools, health care centres, universities & utilities. While working for Sinclair Night Merz in Adelaide, he moved from complex building services into the high voltage electrical power field, where he undertook the design management of a number of substation development projects, from design through to commissioning for SA Electricity utilities such as Electranet & ETSA Utilities. In recent years, Oscar has extended his engineering capabilities into Project management, on large power infrastructure projects for utilities such as Electranet and Ergon Energy, and also for large private infrastructure clients who required power upgrades. This has also involved feasibility studies and development of power infrastructure options papers, which has required a focus on business and project management skills so as to develop strategic outcomes for clients, and delivering valued solutions.
